FAQs

Do you have any ‘stock’ hang tags?

Not usually, but if we do, they’ll likely be our generic flagtags as we print those in batches. But most of our clients want something truly bespoke which makes bulk production not possible.

What size are your tags?

Check out our tag options page. Our ‘tall’ tags are 64mm x 167mm and typically used for music needs – guitartags, bandtags, gigtags and techtags. Our ‘short’ tags are 70mm x 110mm and commonly used for flagtags (luggage style) and sporttags. And our square tags are 70mm which are often used for toytags (memorabilia), retailtags or various collections. But you can have whatever size you like for your own need.

Can I have a different size / orientation tag?

Absolutely, we can make tags to any size. And if you’re using our luggage size tag in landscape orientation, we will punch the necessary hole on the long edge instead of short edge.

Can I have a different or unusual shape tag?

We can create truly bespoke shapes and sizes. We have done one-off shapes such as football shirt-shaped tags, but these are time-consuming and more expensive per unit. For most needs, we encourage you to stick to our templates, and ‘everyday’ shapes.

Can I add whatever I like to my tag?

As much as we’d love to say yes, we (you and us) need to be respectful of copyright and trademarks. We are not affiliated with (and make no claim to be associated with) any manufacturer, brand, band, logo or mark.

We want to create tags that are special for you, and complement and show off your item to its very best. We realise that you may might want to include brand logos to make your tag look more official… but just be aware, that the logo is likely protected by copyright and trademark restrictions. Music dealers can often bypass these restrictions as they will likely be authorised to use brand logos in their materials to generate sales etc.

Can I send you my own design?

Yes you can. Depending on how you supply it,  chances are we’ll need to recreate part/all of it to suit our template and processes. But definitely send it across so we know what you’re looking for. It is helpful if you can supply the raw layered files (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator etc), and not ‘flat’ files (e.g. JPEG, PNG, PDF) as we then have easier control of your design wishes.

Will my tag have your logo on?

No, all the samples you see on our website (and may have seen or been given at trade shows) are just for our display and promotional purposes. Your tag is just for you, so will have no mention of hangtags or our logo on it!

Can we set-up regular or recurring orders?

Yes, if you’re making your tags truly unique to a each specific instrument (e.g. with serial numbers), you will have a larger demand of tags. Rather than emailing or using our webform each time, we would use a spreadsheet template to import your data to our database to generate the new tag proofs.

Are the hang tags black and white or colour?

Either / both! You can have what you like. Some clients opy for black and white to really make an impact. Others chose to add a spot colour (e.g. black, white and red) and others have full colour (e.g. photos etc). It’s up to you.

Can I have more than one tag of the same design?

Yes, no problem.

Can I chose a different material for my tag?

Our tags are printed on 3mm foamex as it’s light, strong, and it’s durable and remarkably water-resistant – we dunked a tag in water for seven days and it lost no strength or durability – and the print quality was entirely unaffected – you don’t get any of this with cardboard tags.

We don’t print on other materials such as rubber, leather etc as we can’t guarantee initial print adhesion or overall quality etc.

Are the holes on the tags pre-punched when they arrive?

Yes, depending on the style, some tags have single 6mm holes pre-punched, and others have a small slot to use a buckle-strap to affix to your item.

For tags which have a single hole, we supply a 1mm waxed cord tie (black, white or numerous colours). For the smaller luggage-style tags, we supply a simple black 20cm buckle strap, but is easily interchangeable with your own ones if you wish.

How do I supply the information / files to you?

Complete this form, where you can add your ideas and upload images, and we can set to work. Or if you prefer to, you can email us directly too.

What is the signoff process?

Once we have received all your tag information, we will design your tag and send you a PDF proof. Either let us have any required changes, or confirm you are happy with it.

How long does it take?

Once your PDF proof has been approved, your tag will be added to the next available print run. We estimate 2 weeks lead-time from approval to despatch. Larger orders can often go to print quicker, reducing the overall delivery time.

How are the tags posted?

All tags are wrapped in crepe paper, and posted in a hard-back envelope, using tracked and signed postage.

How do I place an order?

Until we set up our web ordering system, please send us an email at hello@hangtags.co.uk
